The project covers 167.99 acres, of which 132.44 acres land for construction, 11 buildings are planning to be constructed, the total construction area is about 193,700 square meters, expected investment is about 910 million yuan. National Space Science Center, CAS is set to do national science research and to organize and implement research and development of space science satellite program. The goal of this project is to gain major scientific discovery and promote the development of dual-use high-tech for both military and civilian use, to prepare for future space science development, to enhance China’s international competitiveness and national security capabilities and to providing important support and guarantee for national science and technology development. 

　　  Currently, three buildings (including the main building, 3rd research building, workers dormitory) of the first phase has been completed with a total construction area of 74,700 square meters. The next step is to build the second session of the first phase which contains four buildings, namely: 4th scientific research building, 5B research building, 7th research building and canteen, with a total construction area of 30,000 square meters, which is expected to be completed in June 2014.
