With the opportunity of the project of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) started in 2003, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing Municipal made joint effort to build the Beijing Advanced Sciences and Innovation Complex (BASIC) in 2009 with collaboration, complementary advantages and resource sharing. In the March of 2011, CAS and Beijing Municipal signed agreements to further cooperation, deciding to build Beijing Advanced Sciences and Innovation Center (BASIC). In that October, the preparation group was created. 

　　The Complex, located in the south of HuairouYanqi Economic Development Zone, is made up with education basis, science achievement transformation basis, interdisciplinary research and engineering basis. 

　　By building value chain of original innovation, key technical innovation, system integration innovation and engineering R&D and transforming innovation, the Complex is setting up one of the China’s most representative and the most influential comprehensive research and innovation center, which combines technical innovation, talents gathering, service supporting, industry cultivating and corporation incubation.
