Synchrotron Light Source Cooperation for "The Belt and Road Initiative"
Professor Stankiewicz’s Visit to Wuhan University for Academic Exchange and Cooperation

From October 19 to 22, at the invitation of the Institute of Advanced Studies, Professor Marek Stankiewicz of Jagiellonian University, director of SOLARIS National Synchrotron Radiation Centre (SOLARIS), visited Wuhan University for academic exchange and cooperation between Wuhan Light Source and SOLARIS, and between Jagiellonian University and Wuhan University.

On the morning of October 21, Professor Stankiewicz joined the Yangtze River Academic Forum and gave a presentation on the history of SOLARIS from project proposal to the construction, its technical parameters, current operation and future development plan. Professor Stankiewicz expressed his hopes for Chinese users, especially those from Wuhan University, to achieve great results at SOLARIS.

In the afternoon, the Wuhan Light Source Technical Working Group (the Working Group) and Professor Stankiewicz discussed collaboration opportunities between Wuhan Light Source and SOLARIS. Professor Stankiewicz affirmed the design plan and early preparation work of Wuhan Light Source and expressed full confidence in its future success. He shared the experiences of SOLARIS from project establishment to the synchrotron construction, and gave many pertinent suggestions regarding the construction of Wuhan light source. At the end of the meeting, the two sides discussed the collaboration details between Wuhan Light Source and SOLARIS regarding light source construction, personnel exchange and scientific research collaboration. Professor Stankiewicz invited members of the Working Group to visit SOLARIS.

On the afternoon of Oct 22, Fu Lei, vice director of the International Exchange Department of Wuhan University, met with Professor Stankiewicz to discuss the cooperation between Jagiellonian University and Wuhan University. Fu Lei asserted that this collaboration presents an opportunity to strengthen the intercollegiate exchanges between Wuhan University and Jagiellonian University, further contributing to the Belt and Road Initiatives for the cooperation of Chinese and Polish universities.
